Corporate Sustainability – Communications and Engagement Specialist

Duties
Come sharpen your communication skills, develop professionally, and learn corporate sustainability in action at America’s First Zoo!

You will:
  • Develop and support internal and external communications and events related to environmental sustainability within the Zoo, leveraging IT and social media resources
  • Participate in strategic organizational change management efforts related to corporate sustainability within the Zoo, and support complimentary external partnerships
  • Conduct critical research and analysis related to sustainability efforts
Through this and on the job mentoring, you will develop and enhance your communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills, and learn about corporate sustainability within a large, reputable, non-profit institution.

Requirements
  • Senior year undergraduate, post-graduate, or graduate level with communications, business, journalism, marketing, or environmental sustainability-related major
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications for communication and data management
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize IT, including social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Google Maps (web page design/administration experience is a plus!)
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, but also strong team player
  • Interest in sustainability (of course, direct experience or expertise is a plus!)

Availability
This internship is offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters (hours differ based on season, and can be tailored to your availability).

A minimum 20 hour weekly commitment is required.

This position typically involves a Monday through Friday business hour schedule, but duties may necessitate participation in occasional evening and weekend events. Schedule flexibility and partial telecommuting are possible.
