Fewer than 7,000 Sumatran orangutans remain in the wild.
Much of their habitat is being destroyed to grow palm oil, an ingredient found in 50% of the foods we eat.

Two thirds of the world’s polar bears could be gone by 2050.
U.S. home energy use emits 1.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year, a greenhouse gas tied directly to the rapid melting of polar bear sea ice.

While the Zoo’s field partners work to help wildlife cope with abrupt changes in their environment, the UNLESS Campaign is mobilizing our on-site and online audiences to address the root of the problem – us.

Wildlife is affected by the choices we make every day related to the food we eat, the products we buy, the resources we use and the disposal of our waste. Why not make our impact a positive one!

So far, UNLESS Campaigners have been working to save orangutans; but now they’re adding polar bears, frogs and butterflies to the list. There are so many exciting ways to get involved and make a difference for wildlife. Whether you’re a fan of orangutans or polar bears or both! You can help.

Take a look at what we’re doing and join us! Together we can save them.
