Social Butterflies
Common squirrel monkeys are active, vocal and social primates. In the wild, they can live in colonies of up to 300 monkeys! This species is found throughout the rainforests of Brazil, Venezuela and Columbia.

Friendly Neighbors
Scientists have observed common squirrel monkeys forming mixed-species "friendships" with other small primates including spider monkeys.
In the wild, squirrel monkeys spend much of their day foraging through the jungle, tearing apart bark to find bugs and ripping into fruit to eat. At the Zoo, keepers provide them with various paper products so they can exercise their shredding skills!
