Habitats & Adaptations
All animals require food, water, and shelter in order to survive.
Where an animal finds these basic needs are within their habitat. There are many different habitats, and they are characterized by physical and biological features. Organisms are equipped with adaptations to help them survive and succeed in the habitat that they live in. Adaptations can include physical traits and structures, like body color and wings, as well as behavioral traits, like migration. Diversity amongst organism and their adaptations allow for different roles to be fulfilled in a habitat, and helps to support a healthy ecosystem.
Included are activities for students from K-12 to introduce content areas, observation-based exercises that can be used while here at the Zoo, and activities to expand student thinking!
