Keematee Trust

The Keematee Trust of Philadelphia Zoo

kee·ma·tee

/ˈKEEmə tē/

A Hindi word meaning precious. A rare treasure to be held in the highest regard.

Keematee, a bear cub born just before the Zoo’s unexpected closure in 2020, served as a beacon of light in the shadow of an uncertain time. Together, families watched from home as she grew and tumbled into hearts. Bursting with cub energy, Keematee represents hope for her vulnerable species, and embodies Philadelphia Zoo’s mission to create joyful discovery and inspire action for wildlife.

With her name, we honor those who are protecting that mission. The Keematee Trust was established to honor donors who are ushering America’s first zoo through the most critical time in its history with philanthropic gifts totaling $25,000 or more.

Members of The Keematee Trust will be recognized on a unique, onsite donor recognition display and celebrated during a special event in 2021. In the meantime, Philadelphia Zoo graciously recognizes the generosity of these guardians who are securing our future in the list below:
