Philadelphia Zoo COVID-19 Update
Dear Zoo Community,
As you are keenly aware at this point, we are all continuing to experience rapidly changing circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 situation in our city and region. And, today is no different.
We have decided that temporary closure of the Zoo, effective March 17, 2020, is the best decision for our guests, our staff, our animals and the broader community. Minimally, the Zoo will remain closed through March 31, 2020 and throughout this time, we will be continually monitoring the situation. Protecting all of our stakeholders and slowing the spread of COVID-19 takes priority. Although we are unsure at this time how long our short-term closure will be in effect, we expect to maintain this status until regional containment of the virus has been achieved.
We know that this important measure will disappoint many people that look to Philadelphia Zoo as their special place to learn about our precious planet and spend time with one another. Be assured that all of the animals are safe and well – our keepers and veterinarians are continuing their work of providing exceptional animal care.
Thank you for your outpouring of support; it has meant so much to us during this difficult time. We are so grateful for your kind words of encouragement and will stay in touch with up-to-date information as it becomes available. Everyone, please stay safe and healthy and we all look forward to the day we can welcome you back to the Zoo.
