Philadelphia Zoo is thrilled to introduce our new Hoffman’s two-toed sloth baby born to first-time mom, Latte, and dad, Jabba, on May 27th.
With the Small Mammal House closed to the public for general repairs, this is the perfect time for mom and baby to bond. Dad, Jabba, moved to Rare Animal Conservation Center – adult Hoffman’s two-toed sloths typically live alone except when together during mating.
Famous for moving slowly, these arboreal animals spend most of their lives hanging upside down in the trees of the tropical rainforests of South America and Central America. They are considered to be most closely related to anteaters.
Stay on the lookout for Latte and the youngster on our Sloth Cam, presented by Xfinity!
